PCT, CDT, AT Wilderness on GMaps

Postby postholer » Wed Mar 04, 2015 2:16 pm

Wilderness areas that the PCT, CDT or AT traverse have been added to the postholer google maps, by administrative agency. Areas that the trails do not enter are not shown.

Go to the google map page
select your trail from the 'Trail' list box
select the wilderness (at very bottom) from the 'Skins' list box

Clicking on a wilderness boundary will show you:
Name
Wilderness ID
Agency (FS, BLM, FWS, NPS)
Mile First Entered
Mile Last Departed
Total Distance
Trail Distance Only in Wilderness

Each agency boundary has a different color. For the AT you may have to initially zoom in to even see the boundaries as the wilderness areas are much smaller than out west.
