Hi
Can I ask folk who have been through the permit process.

Do they ask for just your prefered start date, or can you give a range of dates if you are flexible?
If your date is not available do they offer the nearest one?
I there any negotiation?
How quickly is your permit approved?

Thanks

Mayo :D

Well I am back for another try.
I did the first 400 miles to Mill Creek Fire Station last year but had to get off because of issues at home here in Tasmania.
I hope to fly into LA and get back on the trail at Mill Creek and complete the PCT this year.
Trying to get flights and permits organised at the moment as things have only just fallen into place so that I can go this year

I'll be doing a solo SOBO starting at Cascade Locks, ending at the official midpoint marker south of Lassen (provided I don't get called back to work early September before I reach that far.)

Planned to start right after July 4th weekend but with the record hot April we've had and the accelerated snowmelt up here (I live in Portland), I may start a bit earlier. Indications are an early and quick snowmelt for most of the Cascades even though the snowpack got back to average this year with a wet winter, after last year's drought. We will see what May brings.

I often hike in a kilt instead of shorts, when in shorts type weather/conditions. So probably you won't have any problem recognizing me.

I'm considering this hike but I don't like the cold. Section hiking may be for me. I can't quit my job. Any suggestions
I love the trail. It calls my name.
