Seiad Valley to Etna Summit

Postby Corky Corcoran » Fri Jun 30, 2006 9:15 pm

Left Seiad Valley for Etna Summit on June 23, routine (hot, dusty, uphill) trip to Paradise Lake. On June 25 got two miles past Paradise Lake SOBO, fought through 4 snowfields, gained a ridge at 6490 feet, saw nothing but more snowfield with intermittent trail next several miles. Had to go up to ~7500 feet this leg, decided I coudn't do it, bailed.

My guess is that it will be 2 weeks even in that heat to get through, maybe less if thunderstorms and rain clear the snow faster.

There had been no other NOBO or SOBO folks in Seiad Valley or Etna, which I left on June 28.
