For the hard core hikers, the elite. Who's heading out in 2011?

Show those hands!

Don't everyone raise their hands at once.

I'll be making an attempt at it in 2011. Might even be draggin my girlfriend along too. I hiked the AT last year and the PCT this year but she hasn't done a long trail yet. Not sure if she's up for "Embracing the brutality" but shes down to give it a try.

I think we'll be heading southbound sometime around mid june.

Me & Milky too

I'll be giving it a shot in 2011 as well, along with a fellow named Milky that I hiked with for a few hundred miles on the PCT. Current plan is to start SOBO in June, but with a "La Nina" year, we'll be watching the snowpack (not sure yet where/how to do that, the snow report stuff on this site doesn't seem to work for the CDT, at least it didn't just now).

Greetings from Teller County, CO, 75 road miles east of Buena Vista -

I am planning to start the Columbus Route NOBO mid- to late-April 2011. I'll be watching snowpack along the Gila and in the San Juans before I finalize my departure date. All my Ley's are printed and I have made preliminary contact with Coyote in Deming.

Plan is to resume my CDT hike this year - hike around 1000 miles from Mexico to Salida, CO. Not sure if I'm going to continue north or head south. Looks like I'd leave around the same time in mid June - weather pending.

Specifically, Arno and his homey Heavy will be making a go for the last of the triple crown hikes...

NOBO 2011

Would love to head northbound this early May, but all depends on how much snow accumulates between now and then. I have a flexible schedule so changing my plans for a southbound hike can certainly be in order. I live in Oregon and Mount Hood is expecting a la nina year and it certainly has not even seen it as of mid january, so I am hoping the weather for the CDT chills out in the next months.

Planning a NOBO hike planning on leaving the last week of April. Starting with my cousin for a month then on my own after that. Working out plans to hike with Paranoia and would love to meet up with Handlebar. May switch to a SOBO hike if I think it looks better. Well wouldn't mind seeing Milky again. Hope we cross paths.

i'm tossing the idea around in my head, gettin' my ducks in a row at the moment.
it'd be a first week of may ( still flexible ) start on the columbus route, anybody else starting around that time frame?
not planning on a thru-hike, maybe up to grand lake co, i'll let the trail make up my mind.
