Help using the Garmin Etrex 30 on the PCT this year.

I just bought the Etrex 30 to use along with Postholer maps. I also bought the PCT trail series card which is a map of the PCT and 10 miles on either side of the trail. The trail series maps are not real good in my opinion and I am wondering what would be the best way to set this GPS up. I am not a tech person at all. I'ts ok the way it is but I feel it could be much more interesting. Also Gadget did we hike together through the Smoky mts. 2010?? Bloodhound, Lucky, and others. My name is Frost.

I have an etrex20, so I can give a few helpful tips. I use google earth to manipulate the tracks I use, add waypoints, etc. Then the best option for the tech non-savy individual would be to use Garmin's software (Mapinstall or BaseCamp) to load the data to your GPS.

Your can get an excellent PCT trace with lots of data from http://www.pctmap.net/ and you can get some very detailed free topo overlays from http://gpsfiledepot.com/
