Cameras on the Trail

Postby LaGrangePoints5 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 11:15 am

I am learning about the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera. It was recently rated as the best mirror less camera for hiking and comes more weather resistant than other SLRs or mirror less cameras. But it is NOT light - 25 ounces with the 12-50 lens. I also will have an iPhone 6 (currently still only own the iPhone 5 - at 4.7 ounces). For through-hikes, does the iPhone get you the best options for quality photography? Will the Olympus get you significantly enough additional flexibility and quality to justify the weight? Or does a third alternative, a point-and-shoot like the Sony RX 100 or the Lumix version, provide high quality photos at a lower weight?
