Even More Upcoming PCT Work Parties

Postby North 350 Blades » Thu Jun 27, 2013 8:39 am

Check 'em out at http://www.pcta.org/volunteer/project-schedule/

June 29th to July 7th - Reds Meadow
June 29-30 - Hayrick Falls by the Mid Oregon Crew
July 7-17 - Red Mountain Rehab in the Shasta Trinity NF.
July 13-14 - Tahoe Trail Skills College - go learn what you need to know.
July 18-27 - East Fork Carson River about 5 miles north of Sonora Pass in the High Sierra
July 19-21 - Qunicy - LaPorte

Plus chances are you local crew will have more than the above listed projects. Check out the list at:

Our crew, the North 350 Blades, organize a lot of day trips via our e-mail list. We're starting log out this coming Saturday, the 29th - it's full (wuhoo! - Thanks volunteers). We'll be doing several more log out trips during July to clear the trail in our neck of the woods, along with all the other volunteer and USFS crews.

In addition to that list of PCTA affiliated crews linked above, there are also many local chapters of the Back Country Horsemen and here in Washington, there is also Washington Trails Association, all of which do a LOT of work to keep the PCT open and in good shape.

Pay it forward. If you're going to thru hike in upcoming years, join your local crew THIS year to engage in some enlightened self help - after all, if the brush is cleared and the tread is in good shape, YOUR hike will be easier and more enjoyable. Or, like this writer, after your hike, come on out and give back to the trail.
