My Dream!

Welcome to my journal of my 2013 Thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. It has been a dream of mine since the summer before my senior year in college to hike the entire AT from Springer Mountain Georgia to Katahdin Maine, located in Baxter State park. The AT is 2185.9 miles long.

Just a little background about me. I am a retired physical education teacher from upstate N.Y. I have coached basketball, baseball, football, American Legion baseball and all kinds of club teams, AAU, Little League, etc for 34 years. I am still coaching Varsity Basketball now. I have a beautiful wife and four amazing kids! My wife and kids are 100% behind my hike. I will be starting my hike on April 8th, and in the next few weeks I will have a few posts describing how my preparations are going.

One Step At A Time

The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is more than 2,175-mile long footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1921 and first completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic, wooded, pastoral, and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Learn more:
