Day 87, Mile 1176.5 - Stealth Campsite

We had a steep climb early in the morning but then we stayed on the ridge for most of the rest of the day. When we stopped for a break, another local hiker came in and asked if we had seen any rattlesnakes. He had been up there a week or 2 earlier and had seen a bunch. He was heading down a blue blaze side trail to a location where there was a den of rattlesnakes. I quickly headed for the white blaze one. We hiked exactly 20 miles today, which was a pretty good accomplishment in the hot humid weather. We were all pretty exhausted when we got to campsite. I didn't even feel like eating. But I forced myself to have something. I jumped in the stream behind our campsite and that helped cool me down. Tomorrow we will be heading for the 501 Shelter, which has a shower and you can order pizza to be delivered to the shelter. It will be a short day, but we might need it in the heat.
