Gooch Gap Shelter

Gooch Mountain

My trek has taken me over Hawk Mountain then Justus Mountain as I make my way to the Gooch Mountain Shelter. There were a lot of people on the trail today too. I met 6 hikers from Germany. They said that they saw a documentary about the Appalachian Trail on their TV back home and just had to come to the United States and hike it. There were also 2 Boy Scout Troops hiking the trail. Just before setting up my tent I went to the nearby stream and got some water to fill my bottles. I got out the box with my water treatment chemicals (Aqua Mira) and took them out of the box and proceeded to treat the water. While I was doing this, a little mouse came over to me, climbed into the box, checked it out then climbed back out and went on his way. He was oblivious to my presence.
