Looking ahead to May section hike
Plans for the May 11-18 section hike from 19E to Damascus, VA continue to come together. From some recent e-mails, looks like there will be a group of us on the AT at that point, including some hiking friends from September, Bill and Clay, and hopefully, my son-in-law Tony, my son Bryan, and their friend, Mike (all of whom have no trail names,yet!).Equipment changes continue as well, switching to a Platypus 2L Big Zip and Sawyer 3way in-line filter along with a 1/2 liter Gatorade bottle on the straps. I have been building soda can stove variations for years, but still can't justify the 3 oz difference with the canister stove (when you include enough alcohol for a hot cup of coffee in the morning and a hot packet meal at night). But still looking at it... Otherwise, it has been looking at every item on the equipment list and seriously wondering if it is needed, based on previous trips.
The next item of business is learning how to make these entries from the IPhone alone!
