Appalachian Trail Map

100 mile wilderness

first day in the 100 mile wilderness and i crossed one fire road, train tracks, and about fifty people. :) it was a great day! had breakfast at the hostel before we were shuttled back to trail. the hiking was bumpy today with lots of up and downs, but the weather was perfect. perfect human weather 70 degrees, low humidity and sunny. we climbed down and swam at the base of a waterfall after six miles. there was some 10' cliff jumps there and we took a good hour to swim. the miles flew by and we took another swim and bath in a nice stream later in the day. its funny i did not shower at the hostel, but prefer just to bathe in rivers now. im used to the cold water of them and can sit in them for a long time. its great having moose and cassandra around and our friend guisseppe. played some euchre after dinner and tom and i were slayed by moose and taillights. that's it for now. ember
