Day 2

So cold last night. Thinking mid to upper 20s. Slept terribly and was slow moving in the morning. But had my first instance of trail magic, as a guy and his daughter had a station of fruit and coffee set up at Cooper Gap for all hikers to enjoy. That was a great boost. Day warmed up significantly after that (mid 50s I'd guess). Had dinner with a couple other people and made camp at Woody Gap. Feeling good so far. Have first "real" mountain tomorrow, Blood mountain. But even today with just a bunch of little ups and downs, I've already hiked more elevation than any other single day.

Appalachian Trail - 2015

The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is more than 2,175-mile long footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1921 and first completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic, wooded, pastoral, and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Learn more:
