Appalachian Trail Map
Here we are. It has been nearly two weeks since YoYo and I summited Katahdin. I keep asking myself, "did we really do that?", "was it all real?"
When I started out on this adventure with my best friend, I didn't really know what I was getting into. And for the most part that was by design. I wanted to just take everything in as it came, to experience things as they were. For the most part I think we were successful. We lived an adventure. Hiking the Appalachian Trail with YoYo is something I won't soon forget. The emotional and literal ups and downs of the trail have shaped us and altered our journey in life, perhaps slightly but definitely significantly. The strange thing is I recognize this, yet I am not sure in what way. I am sure we will find out soon enough. Now it is time to make the transition back. It has been kind of difficult so far, but not impossible. Things that didn't exist on the trail seem kind of pointless and all the "stuff" we left behind for those 4 months is overwhelming. I guess we've realized we don't really need much to live.
Here's to the transition period!
Thanks so much for following us. It was nice to be able to share certain moments with you all along the way. I think this will be the last post, so I will sign off for YoYo and I and say good-bye. Thanks again. Tweet.
The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is more than 2,175-mile long footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1921 and first completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic, wooded, pastoral, and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Learn more: www.appalachiantrail.org
