Appalachian Trail Map this mic on?

I turn 55 years old this September 24. I haven't been on a long backpacking trip since I was 15 and in the Boy Scouts. I am planning some shakedown hikes now in order to get ready to start my section hike adventure in March of 2017. So I will use this site to plan and study and listen and learn. I will start out with day hikes in my area, and then work up to multiple night trips in the Ozarks. This fall and early winter, I will be in the Smokies for some multi day trips. I'll update and post as often as I have new things to share.

I like to write so this should be fun. I'm new to this era of hiking, but not a complete neewbie. Hang on my friends. Sammy is here and I have no clue what will happen next!!!!

Sammy's Section Hike Adventures

The Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is more than 2,175-mile long footpath stretching through 14 eastern states from Maine to Georgia. Conceived in 1921 and first completed in 1937, it traverses the wild, scenic, wooded, pastoral, and culturally significant lands of the Appalachian Mountains. Learn more:
