Walk thru at Mountian Crossing

Postcards from Paradise #2

Arrived Top of Georgia hostel wet but safe. Covering ground and my stamina is building. Had to remind myself to set a practical pace and not try to take off like an eighteen year old. Stopped by Mountian Crossing to have my photo taken at the walk through. This is the only building the AT literally passes through on the trail. Steady climb out and ran into whore frost on the windward side of the mountain. Incredible, like almost being lost in a Disney movie. There has been a lot of storm damage since my last trek in 2012. Also the trail has been rerouted in many places so far. On place in particular was Justus Mountian where the trail now goes around instead of over. Very nice work folks! Got a real suprise at Low Gap shelter strolling down the switchback. The monsterous oak tree next to the shelter was up rooted and I was afraid it had squoshed the little building. That was my last day of good hiking weather. Torential rain has set in and the hike into North Carolina is going to be wet and miserable. One consilacon is the temperature is going to be in the 50's and 60's. Going to get a good night's rest and push on to Muskrat Creek shelter 11 miles up the trail.

Take my hand, O Blessed Mother hold it firmly lest I fall; I 'am nervous while out walking and humbly on to thee I call. Guide me over every mountian, watch me when I’m on life's trail. Let me know that you’re beside me; take my hand and lead me on.

Postcards From Paradise

Enjoy the Hike... Swagman
This will be my third and hopefully final attempt to thru-hike the AT. 2010 attempt ended with a family emergency. 2012 ended with a fall off of Mount Bemis in Maine. 2015 I was diagnosed with Squamous cell throat cancer so no hike. Recovering from the effects of radiation-chemo therapies and very, very retired now days. Please hike vicariously with me in 2018. AT registration is #A841 - #37
