Virginia Bear Pole

Easy Rider

Woke up after the smoke detector incident early. Decided to get started with my chores. Headed to the laundry room and did a load, sat there until it finished. Afterwards, headed back to my room for a shower. Then down for breakfast. I met another Ohioan, Hurdy Gurdy is from Columbus. Sputnik was there too. After breakfast I just relaxed and veg-ed until 10am.

Then Sputnik and I headed to the outfitters. It was not open yet, I called and they told me they were flooded last night and were opening late. So we sat at the bakery next door and had a little snack. Grace finally showed and opened the store. I bought a new Sawyer bladder, which is a temporary fix and a fuel canister. They did not have a pair of lightweight shorts. Afterwards, we headed back to the motel.

I still had my resupply to do so I decided to take a cab to the local Target. I found some shorts that will work, and got the food I needed. Then I crossed the street and got a smoothie for a pre-lunch! The cab picked me up and took me back. Then I packed up the stuff I wanted to send home. I walked the half mile to the post office and shipped my stuff. On my back I stopped at a cafe for a Cuban panini for a late lunch.

Got back and made a bunch of calls. Relaxed and started researching where I will come off the trail to pick up a rental car to go to our annual Jacox Family Reunion in Alfred Station, NY Memorial Day weekend. I am either exiting at Carlisle, Pa - mile marker 1130 or Lickdale at 1183.

Walked across the street for dinner again and had soup and a salad for dinner, very good. The salad had kohlrabi in it!

Back in the room, watching my beloved Cavs play the Celtics. Go Cavs!

Tomorrow I want to get out early, prolly cab-ing it to the trailhead! I will be exiting Virginia in 36ish miles. After Virginia, it is a quick jaunt thru West Virginia and Maryland and into Pennsylvania.
