Appalachian Trail Map

Day 9 & 10 with the Wifey +5 zeros

I did it again. I had something all written out and I pressed something and it got deleted. *sigh*

Carolyn kicked the trails ass and I'm so proud of her. There were some mental ups and downs for sure but she made it. Had some issues with her feet but nothing major. I'm so glad she made it all the way!! Great job babe! She is now able to say she hiked with the Rhino.

I do have some big news. I am putting this hike on pause. There are many factors but the biggest ones are that I'm just not having fun. I have completed 272 miles of the trail in 10 hiking days and everyday is pretty much the same ole thing. Hike in the green tunnel, hike with basically no views (during my stretch) and continue to hike on endless rocks. Maybe it's just my mindset at the moment or my lack of knowledge of the AT or just where I happened to start my hike but when I think about it, the only real time where I was having fun and was excited was when I crossed the bridge into New Jersey that I had walked across PA and it's rocks. I am proud of myself and my body that I continued to push hard even in the rocky terrain. The elevation gains and losses are not the issue and in fact, there were very little. All I cared about was a decent amount of trail where I didn't have to look, literally, straight down for hours and miles on end stepping and avoiding rocks. I guess that's just the AT and not really my cup of tea at the moment. So, for now, my hike is on pause. Not because I'm injured, not because of life, not because of work but because I'm not having fun. I'm happy with my body and was looking forward to push even harder and do more miles. Maybe I'll start where I left off or maybe I'll try going south. We shall see. Right now I'm gonna have fun at the house and enjoy hanging out with the wifey and the dogs and do some summer time stuff around here : )

Thanks for reading everyone!

Rhino coming thru! (Hopefully sometime soon again)
