"Dag Gone It"

Having bought an Anker charger, a new Sawyer "Squeeze" filter, a pair of Convertible pants, a couple of dinners from a new company that I just heard about, and a bottle of Permethrin to treat my clothes and equipment, along with a few other odds and ends, in preparation for my May 13th start on the trail, the arthritis in the Lumbar region of my spine decided to flare up, leaving me gimped up once again.

I had set my tent up in the living room and got a piece of Tyvek cut for it, went through the contents of my pack, tossing things aside that I hadn't used on previous hikes, and had bought a bag of tennis balls to help break up the down in my sleeping bag when I put it in the dryer.

My "Bounce Box" was ready to be mailed, I had my utilities taken care of, and made arrangements for my house plants and mail pick up. I also have a new AT Passport coming that I was looking forward to getting stamped.

I know things happen for a reason, so perhaps I'm fortunate in that there was no expense getting to the trail, have it happen out there and have the expense of getting back, plus maybe even being more seriously injured with the flare up while on the trail.

For now, I'm not sure what to do except postpone my hike. Am I finished as a Backpacker? I don't know.
