May 3 Out of the Canyon
Hiked up and out of the canyon this morning. The trail up to the north rim was spectacular. It was not for those who can't handle hieghts. Lots of big
drop offs, several sections were carved out of the cliffs. It tired me out too. The grade wasn't to bad but there still was a lot of it to do.
Hiked out of the park in the afternoon. I was tired from the mornings climb but was able to get out of the park by 5 PM. I had an early dinner and am hitting
I'm at over 8000 ft, actually around 9000 ft now and will be above 8000 ft for the next couple of days. There are patches of snow still in the area
and the trail tonight was pretty muddy. Also a lot of blow downs on the trail once I left the rim.
Saw a completely black squirrel today.
