Resupply, 20's, & Crunch Time

Well I did it! I made myself finish up and pack my resupply boxes, seven in all. I will resupply from stores in 2 more locations. I don't quite know the reason I hesitated on the resupply, but I always do. Maybe because it seems so final. Like sealing the box is sealing my fate. Now I'm stuck with my food decision forever, but really I'm not. If I can't stand another Snickers, I will be able to purchase something else in most towns and donate my Snickers to the local hiker box. Still there is something weirdly frightening yet satisfying about taping up my resupply boxes. Interestingly, I am doing as many resupply mail drops for the AZT as I did on the whole PCT. This is the first time I am relying on mail drops for almost all of my resupply. Hopefully it goes well.

In other news, I have done two 20 milers this week. One on Monday and one on Wednesday. Both were through the hills on the south side of town and I ended up with about 2,400 feet of elevation gain for the effort. It is taking me about 7 hours to complete, or just under 3 mph. On the trail I expect that to drop to an average of 2 mph. Anyway, no major problems or setbacks so far. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Although I don't start the AZT for 3 more weeks, I will start the Rincon Mtn Wilderness prequel hike in 2 weeks, so I have to get all the logistics and details completed for both hikes in the next 14 days. Fortunately I am pretty well set, especially now that my resupply packing is complete. I still have to coordinate with Twister for the end of the AZT, get a plane ticket home, make arrangements to pick up fuel cansiters for my stove in Tucson, get my taxes done before I leave,... well, you get the idea. In addition, my final training goal is to do two 20 milers back to back. Maybe next week-
