SlowBro And The Aunts
We were all up and packed by 6:30 and after a quick cup of coffee we were on our way at 6:45. The two miles of downhill to the car went by quickly and we were on the road by 8. Shortly after 9 we were sitting at Oscar's Cafe slamming down bacon and eggs and cups of coffee.
We got to Jill's in Pagosa Springs about 11 and got showers, met Jill's friends, and thanked Jill for her gracious hospitality before zooming of again for Albuquerque.
The adventure did not go entirely as planed, but that made it even better. We did cover nearly 60 miles of trails, learned the names of over 30 different wildflowers, learned again how kind strangers can be in giving a ride, the value of friendship, the length of a mile, the beauty of the wildflowers, the value of clean water, and why we don't eat mashed potatoes for every meal :^).
It was a lot of fun and a lot of work, but all worth it with good friends who also happen to be family. My toe never complained and it was all in all a great adventure!
