Arizona Trail Map
We had little wind in our sheltered spot but could hear it howling above us. Radar and Coati must have showed up after we settled in, for they were in a neighboring camp this morning.
Yeahbut's pad has sprung a leak, but he slept OK after yesterday's wild walk.
First up, we climbed to the highpoint, which has a nice view of Canyon Lake, the Sups, and Roosevelt Lake. We quickly descended out of the wilderness to Cottonwood Canyon. CC was a mess. New trail tread has been constructed but is not all done. The old trail has not had much maintenance, and is full of obstacles like brush, downed trees, cactus, and rocks. There is good water available, although not as much as expected given the wet winter. No cows, a surprise since there is so much grass this year.
We took a lot of breaks since we didn't have far to go. Still lots of flowers decorating the hillsides. Once out of CC, the trail follows rocky jeep roads up and down hills. As we circled the hills towards the Marina, we had nice views of the Lake, Marina, and trailer park there.
The new store has more things than the old one. Especially appreciated the fountain drinks with lots of ice!
Met Gummybear from Ohio, Larry-boy. Radar and Coati showed up as we were relaxing outside the store at some nice tables/benches.
Walked the road to Vineyard TH. we have some chores to do to get ready for the next section. Since bad weather is predicted tomorrow, we may wait a day.
