We leave for Spain in a couple of weeks. Trying to test our gear and our feet. I have been off for months with a broken foot or ligament damage. So getting back to walking about a month ago and being very careful with build ing milage. We walked 10 miles today with our packs. My foot feels O.K but nmy legs have sort of forgotten how. Im hoping that there's some muscle memory from the Te Araroa last hiking season in New Zealand.
We are both looking forward to being able to just walk and enjoy the country. Having spent our British Summer building an extesion to our home. Its time to go and get back to what we love doing, whilst we are still fit enough.
The Camino is very different to the TA. Its on paths and road and trail. The VdlP is pretty flat and easy going from town to town with an albrgue at the end of each day in comparison to the TA its ver hikeable with longer daily mileage much more likely. Foot being the only unknown.
Our packs are fairly light as there's no need for a tent or stove. The sleep gear is a bit heavier as Sain in January can be cold and the hostels are frequenlty unheated. The weathher has been wet in Spain for months, with record rai fall and bridges on the route swept away. So we are hoping for a bit of a turn for the better.
We have cycled the Northern Camino in 2017, so know the routine in albergues.
Our aim is to pick up a Credential in Seville along with a few last minute bits in Decathlon.
