06/22/2012

This is one of my training hikes for The Colorado Trail. 4000' vertical 12.2 mi round trip in 6 1/2 hours. This training trip was significant as it was my first peak (not a 14 teener, but 12,413) but I have been told my whole life due to breathing disability( I have paralyzed vocal chords with a 60% airway) that I could never complete a trip like this. I cried like a baby at the top, and felt something shift in my heart. Amazing. I have wanted this trip to be a Spirit, Soul and Body hike. I know my training has been amazing. Since I started training in Feb, 2012 it has been a time of inner growth and confidence for me.

This is just one of many hikes I have done the week before this I climbed to Barr Camp on Pikes Peak 14 miles (3800 elevation gain it took around hours as I was kind of slow after I broke my wrist) round trip. I was trail running with my poles and slipped and broke my wrist. Thought it was all over, but it was just a small break and I am good to go on the trail!

I was also diagnosed with RA in March of 2012, and my doctor says that I am a miracle.
