Kenosha Pass/ Georgia Pass

Woke up early, but running slow still. I had rolled my ankle in fall yesterday and I feel it. Nancy helped me what a sweetheart. She helped me slip on my pack and said she was going to weigh it at Breckenridge that it was too heavy...gee I know. I told everyone that I would probably see them in Breckenridge as this is where my 60% airway shows up in a steep climb. I go but slow. It is a beauty of a morning. I stop at some rocks and dry my tent off. Nancy had been there, but she headed on. It was so lovely I spent too much time here. I had my protein bar and water and packed up and headed out. This is a steep climb up to 11,838. I second guessed myself and did 2 mi back down as I had not seen a CT marker or anyone lately. Of course, I am on the right to climb again. OMG the Continental Divide is beautiful...No place to take my pack off and rest. I finally find a place to shrug it off and chat with a biker a min. Then I head on down the trail I had just got past the jeep trail and the atv ( I really hate not knowing where I am at..I want a GPS) I just passed a box of trail magic (soda's and tortilla's) yummy I had a rootbeer. Then it hit a monsoon/thunder boomer with hail of course. Lightening was striking right next to me I was low between two or three tree's...I had a come to Jesus meeting. I figured my kids where going to say suicide by nature I knew The lightening moved west so I headed out into the rain and kept going down. I hiked until 6 between two creeks not sure (the next morn I see about a mile and half behind the Swan where everyone else camped) I was trying to remember why I was hiking. I love hiking, but I don't love this. My nerves in feet had me crying to sleep. I realized I was doing this for what everyone else wanted (I ever want to please) not for me. I have been training so hard, but I just don't have the reason in my soul to keep on past Breckenridge. I get up and head down that rocky path down a lovely valley where the Swan is. I should have kept on, but would have only gotten wetter. I got a little confused at this section the book did not make sense (it was right across the road, but I missed it) So, down the road the lovely ranger, Ashley, thought she was helping me and brought me back to where I had been. Hey I have been here, gotta go back, I ask a couple of hikers..yep right across the road. Then as far as I am concerned the is only around 1500 feet, but it feels worse. My feet hurt and I have not eaten all day..not hungry. Finally the top!!! Now down...yikes bikers wanting to run you over. The rocks again. I kept going down and down to around 9500 feet then I ran into Monty and Robert at the last watering hole and mile 27.8. Good thing I ran into them according to the book there was only one fork, but I found two but Monty lead me straight. I ran into a group of ladies that somehow got passed me they asked me to stay for the night, but I had Breckenridge on my mind. Nope heading own. Finally Breck is in site..yeah I made it. I got off the trail and got on the bus to The Fireside Inn. Yikes a shower..too tired to go out for a meal. But all the folks there feed me..yeah. Charles and Mirjam were there..Nancy too. We took a picture Lovely folks! I met Deb Nancy's friend. I meet a Carrie part of a couple from Taipai working on the CDT her husbands Triple Crown. She gave me lots of interesting tips for thru hiking. But my feet ache I am going home to figure out how to do this better. Janae is going to come and get me tomorrow after work. I really loved this, hated being alone though. I think if I had a partner I could have rode the feet pain. All the rest moved on. I got a message today (7/30) from Nancy she is near Mt
