Early planning for Colorado Trail Thru-hike in 2014

I'm in the early planning stages of a potential Colorado Trail Thru-hike in 2014. My wife & I are planning a trip in June to Peru to hike the Inca Trail. That trip precludes the possibility of hiking another mega-length trail such as the PCT. So, she suggested I might try this one. At ~485 miles, the CT can be hiked in 1 to 1.5 months in the summer. I have two old editions of the CT Official Guidebook. I also had an old edition of the Databook. As you can see, this trail has been in the back of my mind for quite some time. I recently bought the Colorado Trail Atlas from Erik the Black (http://blackwoodspress.com/colorado-trail/maps/atlas/).

I have one concern about this hike - lightning. Lot of above timberline hiking. July/August is the period that the CT has almost daily afternoon thunderstorms. Hopefully, I won't become a semi-mobile lightning rod. I've got more trips & hikes to do before I rest. :)
