Out of the Winds

We left Piper and the Winds today. But first we saw 2 bull moose today in a
meadow. They didn't run away either so we got to watch them eat grass and
wade in the water. Very cool.

After a short walk we got to Green River Lakes trailhead and Piper's truck.
We were hoping to find someone to drive her truck to the pass we will reach
in a couple of days. That way she could hike more with us. We were way too
early to meet any other hikers returning to their cars. Bummer. Piper fit
right in with our group and it was fun to have her around.

So, off we went out of the Winds into more open country. We are back with
the cows. We got a great view of the Tetons in the distance.

Hanging our food took a while again tonight. So many trees are dead from
the pine bark beetle and several branches broke before we got the food up.
We are now in grizzly country so no more eating in bed and sleeping with
our food.

Nancy Hikes The Continental Divide Trail

"I wish I knew where I was going. Doomed to be carried of the spirit into the wilderness, I suppose. I wish I could be more moderate in my desires, but I cannot, and so there is no rest." John Muir
