Bought the Ticket

Bought the ticket tonight to Deming, NM. It's beginning to feel real now. After I finish the CDT I'm a triple crowner. I'm really excited about the hike, as usual I'm unsure of how long I will hike this year. Last year was the first year I didn't hike a long trail since 2004.

I'm hiking with a fellow hiker & friend, Vocal, I met on my first day on my 2004 AT thru-hike. We met on the approach trail and hiked to Damascus, until work & life called Vocal back to Maine. Since Vocal lives in Maine we met up after my thru hike, and he bought me a steak dinner as promised. I didn't recognize Vocal, all cleaned up.

This weekend I'm going to do a gear shake down, and start repairing/replacing any items that may not be trail worthy anymore. Really can't explain how excited I am about this trip and the challenges ahead.

I believe one of the mottos for the CDT is "Embrace the Brutality!". Bring it on!!!
