Leaving the Winds

It's time to go. We linger in our tent later than usual. Besides the fact that it's cold outside of our sleeping bags, we now must face the fact that our trip must end. Two weeks ago we did not know how my injuries would play out. Rather then wait for who-knows-how-long in a Motel 6, we rented a car and tried to make the best of it. Just over a week of rest, ice, ace wraps, Kinesiotape, leucotape, massage, stretching, and graduated return to activity, and I'm pain-free. But we have blown a wad on the rental car and logistically can't work out any alternative but to return it to Salt Lake City and fly home. There are other reasons to do so. Randy needs to get back to Florida to help his folks and I have projects waiting at home. I am very grateful that the expected problem did not happen; I have learned to manage my severe patello-femoral arthritis and the painful Baker's cyst which brought me down in 2012. I know now that I have many more backpacking trips in my future.
