No Do Overs!

So I'm guessing that starting a journal in Postholer makes it official! I never did a journal while hiking the PCT in 2010, but I'm thinking that the CDT, since it is much more illusive, just may be a way for me to connect with other hikers who are interested in companionship and support.

Since completing the PCT in 2010 I've had this nagging inner voice that starts somewhere in my head and when let drift, ends up somewhere in my heart. It's a longing for the trail. Hard to explain, but for those of you who are true Hiker Trash, you know what I mean. As I'm getting older, 59 years old,(but still pretty spry) I'm of the mindset that there are "no do overs" and I do not want to have any regrets. So - here I am in front of the fire on a cold and blustery day...taking my first step on the CDT.

I plan on starting early April and getting the hot dry section of Southern New Mexico out of the way. I will be taking about a week off mid-April - a side track to Dallas Texas to attend my nephews wedding and then will be back on the trail soon afterwards hopefully catch up with new trail friends (whom I have not yet met!) somewhere in New Mexico.

So - these days I spend my time researching new lighter weight gear, new recipes, reading journals and blogs of those who hiked the CDT in 2013, pondering the map/GPS options, walking whenever I get the time and - well - just getting excited!

I will be updating this journal sporadically during these cold winter months with updates on gear, maps, and other planning decisions - and...I would love to connect with others who may be on a similar timeline and schedule for moral support!
