Preparation for CDT - Montana
In four days (June 25th) I will arrive in Denver, Colorado at Denver International Airport along with Scott Voyageur Piddington where my aunt Abby and her husband Mike will pick us up and drive us a quite generous 10 hours north to Targhee Pass in West Yellowstone, MT; the starting point of Voyageur and Is 950 mile 6 week trek to Waterton, Canada on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT). The CDTs full length spans from Crazy Cook, New Mexico to Waterton Canada at about 3,100 miles. The rest of the CDT I would love to complete in the future, of course I have to split up the thru-hike into chunks based on my time frame.
I was introduced to the world of hiking simply by obtaining the ability to try new things. I was at summer camp where there was a day hike bound for Mt. Little Haystack, Mt. Lincoln, and Mt. Lafayette in the White mountains of New Hampshire; an hour commute by car to access the wilderness. After I hiked these monstrous summits I decided that I was ready for more. I began to complete the famous list known as The New Hampshire 48 4,000 Footers list. After a few months of hiking these summits -- fitting the time in the weekends between school. I have by the beginning of summer completed 27 out of the 48 summits with a massive help from Voyageur. I also have a much more elementary but still challenging Belknap Mountain Range in my back yard. One of the trails to this range is a couple stone throws from my house.
Currently at the age of 14 and proceeding to be a freshman in high school I am quite a bit younger than the average thru-hiker, yet I dont let that phase me and make my experience do the talking.
