Resume from Togwotee Pass - We're off
Derrick was generous to drive us to our selected resumption point on the CDT: this is the alternate trail due south of Brooke Lake where Jelly Bean interrupted her hike last year. We arrived at 1630 which is a late start time BUT we were finally on trail. The hike to Brooke Lodge was highlighted by JB's efficient navigational skills. No problems incurred. The restroom adjacent to the Lodge was open and usable. The trail from the Lodge to our camp site was muddy with snow and permafrost melt but passable. We arrived near Cub Creek and camped in a small pine glen on a ridge overlooking the creek. Nice, calming rushing water sounds emanating from Cub Creek.Slept soundly until 0330 when thunder and lightning awoke me. Strong storm came in from the north. I had pitched me tent facing north. Wrong. Always check predominant winds before pitching and face tent back to same. The Solo Plus performed very well. I used a small section of Tyvak to prevent the slanting rain from entering through the mesh exposed to the storm.
