McDonald Pass
McDonald Pass
Nice easy sunny 9 miles to finish up. We are approaching civilization and met about 10 mountain bikers and a lot of nice smelling day hikers. Sharon met us at the pass and was a sight for sore eyes. Then into Helena for a big meal at the AK Cafe. We wanted breakfast but were 10 minutes too late so most of us got brunch burgers. I had coffee, orange juice, a brunch burger, fried egg on top of a beef patty. Didn't eat the bun so I pretended I was having breakfast. Then to laundry, Bob Wards for supplies, took Smurf to the library while Sharon, JB and I visited the state Capitol building. Lots of nice large Montana paintings on the walls. Dinner at Millers Crossing where I had IPAs from Blackfoot and Lewis and Clark breweries. Fred, former co worker of Smurf, and his wife Pat joined us, where they are staying the night. Then I bid adieu and worlds of thanks to Bean and Smurf for all their essential advice, I could not have done this without them. My introduction to trail hiking. Wishing them all the best and smooth hiking on their quest north to complete the trifecta.
