Journal Plan

Continental Divide Trail Map

Plan coming together

Was able to finally get into the CDTC website and reserve my shuttle to the border. So the following are my transportation plans and official start date:

16 Apr. late afternoon pick up rental car (one way) from Enterprise.

17 Apr. depart from Cheyenne WY and drive to, or near, Silver City NM.

18 Apr. finish drive to Silver City, return car and catch bus to Lordsburg.

19 Apr. catch shuttle to border and begin NM portion of the CDT.

On many of my LASHes I have used one way rental car as my transportation of choice. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about what is checked, if it is legal, etc. This particular trip the cost of car and one way fee is 350.00. Add a bit for gas, one night extra motel, and shuttle cost (with water cache) and transportation is probably a bit under $ 650.00.

Resupply plan is as follows:

Lordsburg - drop (because I am driving I will probably see about just leaving a box in Lordsburg) Other option is to simply buy.

Silver City - buy (could drop here as well)

Doc Campbells - mail

Pie Town - mail

Grants - buy

Cuba - buy

Ghost Ranch - mail

Chama - finish LASH and figure out transportation home.

Fairly typical resupply I think based upon a couple of sources I have seen. As there are many alternative routes I still need to verify distances of my likely route to plan for my resupply boxes.

Conservatively I should be in Chama by June 4th. But, because I don't have any hard obligations until my departure to Cascade Locks, OR (to finish the PCT) in Aug., I really have a lot of flexibility.
