Journal Entry

I have been reviewing an earlier journal I had under the trail name, "SunnyWalker". What I learned reading this over! I saw right away where I could have saved an entire pound of weight. So I will keep looking that over as I prepare for this hike in 2023. It's interesting, I think I barely have enough time to plan it all (it seems, but I have plenty of time).

I must say this will be my "make or break" hike. I tried that first time as "SunnyWalker" in I think was 2015. Then again from the North in MT and was stopped due to snow. Was so irritated and disappointed I could not deal with all the ideas of flopping and all and so that year came home again. Then tried again a year or so later (did not do a Postholer.com log) from Mexico and got all the way to the Durango, CO area. Came home.

I am looking back and have learned so much from my mistakes and experiences. Putting it all together from my past experiences hiking I think, well, know I can do it. If I just doin't get discouraged. It's hard when you are alone so will look for friends along the way to hike with. I will try to enter the social aspect more on this time also. I kept to myself the last attempts, except when I hiked with Elephant which was a blast and one reason I think I made it so far. But he went home at Doc Campbell's.

I pretty much have everything I need. I will pick up a NeoXlite Therma Rest pad. Other than that a few clothing items and I am good to go. I will populate my gear list as the year goes on. I don't want to do it all at once! Got to have something to do this next year.

One thing I won't do-get all stressed out about maps, maps, maps, gps, gps, gps, maps, maps, re-supply, re-supply, re-supply! It was a lot of to-do over nothing. I found one could make it without all that planning and detail. Ill use guthooks and a Garmin In-reach, have some back-up maps and will have a compass. Other than that - just do it.

Will send boxes ahead as I need to looking down the trail.

Take care. thank you reader . . . for reading.

-Grace and peace, -White Mexican.
