Into town today. Mullan is the first taste of Northern Idaho. Clear cuts, mines 'don't drink the water' signs in town.
Mostly NF RD 391 today, and, just for old times, a bit of bushwhacking/routefinding on old overgrown logging roads down to Willow Creek. Even a bit of motocross inspired single-track. Weee.
Mullan is a mining 'town' that's just barely hanging on. I was surprised to find a nice coffee shop and VERY GOOD BBQ joint. Mmmm...pulled pork sandwich!
For now, I'm done with the ICT. Gonna hitch to Glacier to try and hook up with some hikers on the PNT
Tomorrow I'll try to recap the trail a bit. Miles, resupply, etc.
if the wifi holds on....
The Idaho Centennial Trail is an 890 mile trail from the Nevada border to Canada. Created by Syd Tate and Roger Williams, a 'lasting legacy' trail was dedicated on Idaho's Centennial in 1990. This is a multi-use trail and has official alternates around protected areas. It passes through 2 of the 3 largest wilderness areas in the lower 48. A 450 mile stretch with only one paved road crossing, hot springs, Wild and Scenic Rivers, old-growth cedars and a whole lot of quiet are only some of the highlights of this trail.
