Touloumne Meadows

Well after tearing up 15 miles after getting torn up by doing 15 miles yesterday we finally arrived in Touloumne Meadows about 6:00 pm. Now to see how lucky we'll be? Were playing the high Sierra camp tent cabin lottery..most times you lose and have to camp one more night. Sometimes your the big winner, and as such are entitled to a tent cabin with a bed, a shower and dinner that doesn't materialize from a ziploc! Well ding ding ding we have a winner.

After retrieving the x5, which I was relieved to find 1) still parked in the same place. 2) still had all the windows and doors intact and 3) it started on the first try....all things one worries about I know!!

While our "epic" adventure didn't materialize as planned. We did have quite the adventure!!

But were still not done, today back to mammoth to wash clothes, sort gear and repack the packs. Maybe lounge by the pool and show off our cool farmer know tan arms and tan shins. What you've never had tan lines that? Well then you need to go hiking!

Tomorrow were headed to Muir trail Ranch, should be a fun time. We have to travel 20 miles of one lane road, cross Florence lake on a ferry and hike 4.5 miles to a working ranch, smack dab in the middle of nowhere! They do however have fishing, and horses and lots of places to explore. Plus we get to sleep on beds, and B,L and Dinner are provided. Hmmm this might turn out to be a good family trip..

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and we have to be back to the dreaded work place on Tuesday.

Thanks for reading, I'll have a few more posts from MTR and a link to the pictures early next week!!

J&T JMT 2011

The John Muir Trail passes through a land of 13,000 and 14,000 foot peaks, of lakes in the thousands, and of canyons and granite cliffs. It's also a land blessed with the mildest, sunniest climate of any major mountain range in the world. The John Muir Trail is 211 miles long and runs (mostly in conjunction with the PCT) from Yosemite Valley to Mt Whitney, in California.
