Prepping the Resupply Buckets

With six weeks to go it's time to start filling my resupply buckets. I've received my order from packitgourmet.com with a variety of freeze dried food and I'm repackaging everything into single serving freezer bags. I've picked up my usual assortment of trail snacks such as beef jerky, trail mix, Kendall mint cakes, Snicker bars and Larabars. My trail lunches usually consist of pouches of tuna or salmon with packets of mayo and relish in corn tortillas. I will need to rethink my lunch options for the resupply bucket for MTR since I will need to ship my resupply buckets a little earlier than normal due to the fact that we will be on a family vacation the last week of June. So how long do corn tortillas last? Maybe I'll just plan on eating the tuna out of the pouch and not worry about the tortillas after the last resupply.

I continue to rethink every piece of gear but that is normal for me. I'm happy with my big items like tent, pack, sleeping bag and pad. It's the small stuff that drives me crazy. How big of a 1st aid kit do I need? I've always carried a fairly large kit and thankfully never used it. Do I take extra batteries for my electronics or the Goal Zero solar pad my wife bought that weighs twice as much? I have a spreadsheet with the weight of all the gear I have and two columns, one for the existing configuration and one with optional gear. As I check or uncheck a box next to each item it recalculates the Base Pack weight, Food & Water and Skin Out total weight. So I can see after each change what the impact is. Oh well perhaps I just over think things and in the end it will be determined by how well things fit in the pack.

I’m getting really excited that it's almost time to hit the trail...
