Climbing Mt. Whitney

It seemed to take forever to get to the base of Mt. Whitney even though the terrain was not as brutal as before. I would have been happy to camp at Guitar Lake. I took a quick swim. It was freezing cold. Then continued up, planning to stop at the next flat spot. It was a beautiful day though and we just kept on hiking. I don't think Mike liked the idea of waking up next to a sheer drop off. There were plenty of flat spots though that had been groomed from thousands of tired hikers who just needed to lay down for the night. The views were incredible and the sunlight so intense. As the last hiker down off the mountain passed us, he said there was a campsite on top, so on we went. In fact, sleeping on top of Whitney was really cool. Cold too!
