I wanna go back to Philmont!

Philmont 2010!

Just 53 days 'till we hit the trail again, as Troop 88 ("eighty-eight first rate!") returns to Philmont Scout Ranch! The boys have chosen a challenging trek. On day 6, we will summit Big Red (11020') and Mt. Phillips (11736'), before dropping down to Clear Creek to camp, and shoot black powder rifles. On day 12, we will be hiking over the Tooth of Time, and back to Base Camp for a hot meal and a great closing Campfire.

Four youths and three adults will be hiking this year. The 12-day trek has us doing some challenging miles on the established trails at Philmont. Activities for this trek, as we drop in on various Staff Camps, include shotgun, burro racing, trail conservation, gold panning, blacksmithing, black powder rifle, homesteading, western lore, branding (boots and hats), rock climbing and rappelling, trail ride (horseback), and lots of hiking! We will travel about 66 miles in the twelve days, and it will all be over before anyone can say, "I... WANNA GO BACK TO PHILMONT!"

Join us on the trail by following our posts starting 6/16/2010.
