Turtle Head Peak with moon rising
Red Rock Conservation Area
Apparently Las Vegas is on spring break (AZ was done already). The Red Rock Conservation Area had lines to enter like a major National Park and no parking at the trailheads. The campground was full and we got an overflow spot after talking with the camp host but only for the one night. Super windy with a cold edge that is not great for camping but tomorrow is supposed to be ten degrees warmer. Lots of young climbers staying here. We weren't able to hike nearly as much as we'd planned but did the one way scenic drive and hit the highlights at least. The area has gnarly rocks and canyons but rife with the issues that come from close proximity to a town as big as Las Vegas that has limited outdoor opportunities. The BLM info and signage is horrible and we assume a product of the lack of federal funding. We'll move on tomorrow if we can't get a campsite in the morning.
