White Domes hike
Valley of Fire State Park
No campsites were available at Red Rock Conservation Area so we decided to move on to Valley of Fire State Park to try our luck. After a store detour to buy another water container (valve broke the first night out!), we arrived late morning to find no campsites available here either. There are two campgrounds and the primitive one is nestled right in the beautiful red rocks. It looks like a nice spot with the rocks giving most campsites some privacy and a wind block. We had paid our $ 10 entrance fee so we went straight to enjoying the park. Yesterday was cold but today was downright toasty. Actual trail mileage was puny but we also walked out to lots of scenic spots and climbed around on the rocks. The park has awesome rock areas in many colors and a lot of petroglyphs. We were referred to a BLM area just outside of Valley of Fire and Lake Mead with free dispersed camping. Score! Now to figure out tomorrow...
