The Pacific Crest Trail. 'Nuff said.

North of Southwell Peak

My first destination of the day was Cedar Spring. It's a mile off the trail down a knee shattering trail. When you arrive it's a nice place.

Todays section of trail is called the Desert Divide. It separates the scorching desert and the cooler valley to the west. It was hot. This ridge is a wicked up and down trail the just drains you.

One of the highlights of the day and the trip was I got to meet Pete Fish. A trail crew was rerouting a section of trail and Pete happened to be working on it. He's a bit of a legend. When you think of trail work, you think of Pete.

The nasty roller coaster ride continued until evening. Much of the trail is blasted out of rock. So by 7:45 pm I managed to find a flat spot.

Tonight I'm about 5 miles from the side trail into Idylwild. Yeah!

Nite.
