Sunset Over Whitewater Canyon

Near Mission Creek

It was hot. As in above 100 hot.

The day started on the flanks of Mt. San Jacinto and has ended on a ridge top dividing Whitewater Canyon and Mission Creek. I have this spectacular view as the sun is setting, where I've been and where I'm headed.

It was all desert again today. By 1030am I passed under the I10 freeway bringing an end to section B.

By 3pm I had made to Whitewater River. What a contrast to '02. The river is about 40 feet wide and very fast, but no more than knee deep in the right places. In '02 it was about 10 feet wide.

For most of the day I've been leap frogging with Rob, Drew, Luke and Tom & Tom. Drew and Luke took the PCT out of Idylwild instead of the road walk. It took them 2 days to go 22 miles! They said the snow was baaad. Chalk it up to adventure.

Anyways, I'll be back up in the mountains tomorrow afternoon. Yea!
