My First Entry

Wow! It's hard to imagine my adventure will be starting in just a few
months. I have 12 days left here at work and then the real work begins
- getting organized and planning out the logistics of the hike. I think
I pretty much know what and how I want to do things from both a gear and
food standpoint, but I still need to do some fine tuning. I plan on
dehydrating a good portion of the food I'll be taking, so that will
certainly take some time.

Everyone at work is extremely envious of me and they are also very happy
that I'm pursuing my dream (one of many actually...). I keep telling
everyone what a wonderful and supportive wife I have. Let's face it,
without Lee's support and encouragement, I'd still be stuck in the rat
race we call work. Yuck!

I've already purchased my one-way airline ticket to San Diego and will
be leaving out of Albany, NY on April 10th. Lee is also flying out with
me so we can spend a week or so both "vacationing" and making final
preparations. The plan is for Lee to see me off at the trail head and
then meet back up with me at Monument 78 when I finish. Before I go
further, I also need to give my parents a big thank you and round of
applause for their encouragement and help thus far. Once I start
hiking, their help and assistance will become all the more important
(although they might not realize that yet..), especially in Southern

Well, I guess that's it for my very first entry. I'm not entirely sure
how this will work, so I didn't want to write too much and then screw it
up some way or another.
