Pacific Crest Trail Map
Jason:
We are taking a zero day today in Big Bear City. Last night we went out to dinner with a couple of hikers to celebrate having finished 10% of the trail. We ate very well (thanx for picking up the bill Tenzig!!!) at Madlone's and the owner of the restaurant gave us a ride back to the hotel afterwards.
A couple of quick notes before we pack up so that we can hit the trail again tomorrow. First of all, there are bears in these mountains. Both Angie and I assumed that they would be long gone by now, but apparently they aren't. Sooo... Maybe we won't sleep with our food in the tent anymore. Apparently,?? these are much less aggressive than those in the Sierras tho.
Second, one of the hikers had an issue with a coyote coming into camp to try and get his food. My experience with them is that they are very shy animals. Perhaps the ones here have co-habitated with humans enough to be a bit more outgoing tho.
Third, had a conversation with Yogi today and she would like me to write a section for her book on how to make all of your trail food ahead of time like we've done. I think that would be a blast to share, so I'll definitely be doing it after the trip.
Anway, off to Wrightwood. Talk to y'all then.
