Pacific Crest Trail Map

Back in Flagstaff

Got back to Flagstaff a couple of days ago from California.Saw the family and drank more than my fair share of beers. My thinking is that if I drink enough now then I wont miss them as much on the trail.Well, it sounded good at the time. The weather has been somewhat fair here.Hiked up a local hill here called Mt.Elden.Not so big as the rest around here but was good for today. The hill has about 2300' feet of ascent in 2.5 miles and usually takes a little less than 2 hours round trip. Today it took me about 4 and a half.Lots of ice and deep snow at the top.At least the top was a balmy 4 degrees with the wind chill.Good thing I had a thermos of coffee and whiskey.Myself and Jenny have been spending late nights reading up on the trail, trying to get ahead of the game.Where and when to do mail drops, any extra gear needs, and little by little packing our junk for storage. For those who have done this before or are doing it now,we feel for you.Its alot of work, and yet its so exciting. We had a family member ask us why would we do something like this? We asked why would you not!In any such case, sorry for the late update, and be sure to sign the guest list if you can.We look forward to hearing fom you.
