Coin Toss

After a couple of refreshing beers we felt a descision needed to be made.On one side of the coin was the final point of a 5 in half month journey. The border of another country in which sometimes you never think youll make.To finally reach a "goal" that most people must get to.After all, 2600 ish miles is a long way to go and not hike just 2 more days. 2 days. To have some sense of closure, to justify your reasons for doing the PCT.The other side of my coin says, hey dumbass- you just hiked 2600 miles and your worried about 62 miles? Why did I do this hike? Is 62 miles and a cement statue really why you came here.Do I really need to justify my hike,my vacation to anyone but myself? So again I sleep on it, listen to what my heart says to me. Well, and the weather channel.Im in a hotel room in a small town in northern Washington.I dont bother to watch TV as is will spoil my sleep. It will make my mind busy all night and keep me up.The next morning we awake to sunny skies here and the weather channel is giving us info of whats to come. We both stop and look at each other. The choice had already been made the day before. We decide thats its time for us to go home.So there it is.Our journeys end. No monument, no Canada, no big deal. Over breakfast it really makes sense to us why we came to do the PCT. FOR US!! To spend as much time on the trail as possible. To know whats its like to be out in real wilderness.See the places in life that can ONLY be seen on the trail, not a car.To know how beautiful our country really is. Everyone seems to want to go to another country. The "oh, it will always be here when you get older".True, but remember that the future is promised to no-one. This was also our chance to spend as much time together as we can. I know plenty of couples out there who lead very seperate lives from thier spouses. Not me.Jenny truely is my best friend,my lover, companion. And unlike lots of people, when plans of an adventure come to mind- she is the first person I think of going with. Oh I can see the eyes rolling now. Yet again, this doesnt concern me. Look inside yourself after 2600 miles of time to think and youll know what really is important to you. So we pack our bags and set out for Seattle.

I can hear the cogs turning in some peoples minds of what I just wrote. Round and round they go.For me it ended up here with my family.A great place to be. Now we"ll see what Jennys take on all this is. There will also be (for those that want to know) more from us here on the trip. From what our wish list of gear would be, to still thinking of another hike.Thanking the folks that made this trip possible, and trying to get these damn photos on this site.

* and yes, this really is how my brain works.obviosly very chaotic. back and forth, one thought to another-then back.and you think its confusing to you?

*Jenny's side is soon to come.

*definately more to come!!
