Hey whats up,
Well my names Adam but everyone calls me Cowboy. This past year has been one of the worst of my life. I have had alot of bad times and have been looking for a way to just get away. Then in November I found an article online about the PCT. After researching for a while I have come to the conclusion that this is just the trip I needed.
So on May 6th I will start what is going to the adventure of a life time. Now the plan
May 1st-Last exam at 10am: taking red-eye flight to Billings, Mt
May 2nd-4th- I will pack all my resupply boxes at the home of my best friend Steve. Relax, eat, and get ready.
May 5th (6am)- I will take a plane from Billings, Mt to San Diego, Ca
May 6th - As early as I can get a ride I hope to get to the trail head.
May 6th-September 12th- I will hike the entire PCT.
September 12th- Steve will pick me up at the northern terminus. I'll travel to Seattle where I'll take a week off.
September 17th- Steve will drop me off at the Western terminus of the Pacific Northwest trail. I plan to hike to the eastern terminus. Then head south down the CDT until I get to the Wyoming-Montana border.
So in total I hope to hike
I have never really backpacked. When I was in Civil Air Patrol I was a ground team member for a few searches, so I do have some experience but not much. I don't really view that as a problem, it just means that I will have to have a real quick learning curve. Other than that. I have been a distance runner since I was in 4th grade all the way up until last year. I am always searching for a challenge and thru hiking 2600 miles solo sounds like one to me. So I am going to be useing this journal to document my 4350 miles from May 6th to November 1st. Then I will take the winter off in Billings, Mt. After my spring exams next year I will set out again to hike from the Wyoming, Montana Border all the way to the southern terminus of the CDT.
So that is my plan. I know it is ambitious but I truely belive that I can do it. My next update will be in about a month after I get my gear.
Until then Peace,
Cowboy's Summer Get Away
